This flower is embedded in my memory of being a single parent and my 2 children were around 6-3yrs old. I had this beautiful old apartment with the front room as my studio.(it even had a fireplace with ceramic tiles around it) outside the window grew the biggest Magnolia tree that I have ever seen! It’s sweet perfume lingered on the path to the front door as blossoms lay on the ground.
This one that I have painted is in its “male “ phase, having both male and female reproductive structures! It is bisexual but cannot pollinate without the aid of beetles. Even though this is the case, it symbolises “womanly beauty and gentleness. It’s also North Korea’s National Flower.
I hope you can see the beauty of this flower which is also thought to be one of the first flowering plants!
Fossil remains of the flower were fated to be around 100 million years old!
There are 2 flower paintings left at Jahroc Gallery and 6 new flowers making their way to Traffic Jam gallery in Sydney!! Check them out Sydneysiders?
